coastal storm to bring wintry mix followed by rain saturday

Precipitation from the approaching coastal storm will arrive Saturday morning around or after sunrise in the DC area. This will be light initially and in the form of a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and/or freezing rain. DC may pick up a trace or light dusting of snow from this storm, with snowfall accumulations up to a couple inches for the far northern and western suburbs. A light glaze of freezing rain may also be possible for northern and western spots.
A changeover to rain is expected from south to north by noon, and rain will become steadier. Heavy rainfall rates are expected mid to late afternoon. Rain will pull away by early to mid evening, with rainfall totals around one inch.
High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 30s for most suburbs, with 40° in DC.
Sunday will turn out breezy with some peeks of sunshine and temperatures reaching the mid 40s. We will have a quiet day of weather on Monday before the next storm arrives Tuesday. This storm may bring heavy rain and strong winds to the region.
