cool temperatures through the weekend

Temperatures this Friday will hold steady around 60°, in contrast to the warmth from the past couple days. A northeast wind flow off the Atlantic and Chesapeake is allowing for a marine airmass to be firmly in place.
Scattered showers are tracking through the area and will continue around this afternoon due to energy in the upper levels of the atmosphere passing through. Heavy thunderstorms like what we experienced just after midnight are not expected.
Below average temperatures will be sticking around into the weekend. Saturday, temperatures will top out in the mid 60s. The morning and afternoon hours look dry, but another disturbance may bring showers during the evening. There will be another low chance for a couple showers Sunday afternoon. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s.
The upper level weather pattern responsible for the cooler temperatures will pull away on Monday, bringing a return to high temperatures in the 70s. While the day is looking dry, the next chance for rain may come Tuesday.
