heatwave set to impact the area heading into the weekend

6/20/2024

Astronomical summer begins this Thursday, and right in line with that we are about to begin a notable heatwave. This weekend will likely be one of the hottest weekends of the past few years for the area.
This Thursday will have temperatures closer to average, with highs reaching around 90°. Friday, temperatures will climb to the low to mid 90s.
The heat will be more intense on Saturday, with highs in the upper 90s across the region. A few spots may reach 100°. Temperatures will top out close to 100° again on Sunday. The humidity will be high enough for it to feel a few degrees hotter, especially right along the bay. There will at least be a southerly breeze, particularly on Sunday. Overnight lows will be in the mid 70s.
The next chance for thunderstorms looks to be Sunday evening into the overnight hours. While the heatwave will lose some of its grip early next week, it will still be rather hot with temperatures reaching 90° well into next week.
