rain moves in for Tuesday, then drier for thanksgiving

I hope those in the DC area have enjoyed the stretch of past peak fall colors we have had. Come Tuesday night, I do think a significant portion of the remaining leaves will be brought down due to rain and wind.

For this Monday, temperatures will top out around 50° with increasing clouds. As a fairly strong storm system moves into the region Tuesday, rain will arrive in the morning. This will be a steady soaking rain for much of the day, although there may be some breaks. Rain may be briefly heavy in the evening.

Southeast winds will increase during the day, with gusts reaching 35 mph in the evening. Winds will be strongest right along the bay. Temperatures will also be on an increasing trend, with low 50s by the evening.

Rainfall totals from this storm look to be around one inch. While steady rain looks to end by early Wednesday morning, clouds may hang around. It will be breezy with high temperatures in the mid 50s. Thanksgiving Day will start off with morning lows in the upper 30s, and afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 50s. It will be a bit windy with northwest winds at 15-20 mph.

Seasonable temperatures will stick around for Friday. There is some question as to whether it will remain dry, or if another system from the Deep South will move in.
