rain returns late thursday, then dry into the weekend

With the persistent warmth and dry conditions now gone, we are starting to get into a more active weather pattern. A storm system moving in from the west will spread rain into the DC area this Thursday afternoon, with rain arriving between 3-5PM. This will be much-needed rain, as much of the region remains in a Moderate to Severe Drought. The statewide burn ban that began on November 1 is still in effect. Temperatures today will top out in the mid 50s.
Rain will clear out around or shortly after sunrise on Friday, with rainfall totals around one half inch. It will turn out breezy with decreasing cloud coverage during the day. High temperatures will be in the mid 50s again.
Saturday will be sunny and windy as a high pressure system starts to build in. High temperatures will be around 60°, although it will feel cooler with northwest winds gusting to 30 mph. Sunday morning will be chilly, although temperatures will rebound to 60° in the afternoon. There may be some increase in clouds in the afternoon.
Monday and Tuesday will be dry with mild temperatures. Current indications point to a strong storm system impacting the region towards the end of next week.
