Showers will continue in the DC metro for much of the rest of this Saturday as a strong storm system marches through. There may even be a rumble of thunder later in the day. Rain looks to clear out by midnight, with rainfall amounts close to one inch from this storm. High temperatures will be in the low 50s.
With gusty onshore winds from the southeast at 15-30 mph, tidal flooding will impact locations along the Potomac and Chesapeake at high tide today and especially tonight. Flooding will be considered minor for locations bordering the Potomac, with moderate flooding for Annapolis.
Windy conditions will be the main story for Sunday into Monday, with a 24-36 hour period of frequent gusts over 35 mph beginning by late Sunday morning. For Sunday, temperatures will rise from the lower 40s in the morning to the upper 40s in the afternoon. There will be a mix of sun and clouds with west winds sustained at 25-30 mph with gusts of 45-50 mph. The National Weather Service has a Wind Advisory in effect for the area.
Monday morning, it will feel more like winter, with lows in the 30s and wind chills in the 20s. Afternoon highs will be around 50° with ample sunshine, but it will remain quite windy with wind gusts reaching 45 mph again.
Warmer temperatures will settle back in Tuesday into Wednesday with highs in the 60s along with diminishing winds.
