The first week of March is set to kick off with a deluge, as rain is expected to sweep across our region for the entire week. Grab your rain gear as we dive into our five-day forecast, bracing for a prolonged stretch of soggy weather ahead:
MONDAY: Overcast skies throughout much of the day today but relatively dry. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s with winds out of the east at 5-10 MPH. Overnight, cloudy skies will prevail with rain pushing through in the early hours of Tuesday. Lows will drop back to the mid to upper 40s and winds slightly increasing at 10-15 MPH.
TUESDAY: Slightly cooler with highs in the mid to upper 50s as rain will stick around for much of the morning hours and into the afternoon. Rainfall in portions of northern MD could see close
to an inch with greater amounts south of the Chesapeake Bay. Baltimore could see a little over a quarter of an inch and D.C. has the potential for over a half an inch. Expect northerly winds at
10-15 MPH with rain dissipating later in the day but returning early Wednesday. Low temps will dip back down in the mid to upper 40s.
WEDNESDAY: Overcast skies with steady rain lasting much of the day. Highs in the low to mid 50s and winds out of the SE at 5-10 MPH. Expect heavier rainfall for the day with D.C. and
Baltimore expecting close to an inch. Areas south of the Chesapeake Bay could see close two inches while northern VA could see close an inch and a half. Rain will decrease overnight into Thursday with temps staying mild in the lower 50s.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy skies with a slight chance of rain possible. Highs will be warmer in the upper 50s to lower 60s with winds slightly increasing out of the north at 10-15 MPH. Overnight lows will be colder dropping down to the lower 40s off the coast and upper 30s inland. Expect clouds to linger for much of the night.
FRIDAY: Overcast skies will continue but mostly dry for the day until the afternoon hours. Rain will return and increase later in the day. Look for highs in the mid to upper 50s and winds out of the southeast at 5-10 MPH. At night, steady rain continues into the early hours of Saturday. Lows could drop again in the upper 30s to low 40s for much of the region.
