We (Jack and Jason) had a great time at the Mid Atlantic Severe Weather Conference yesterday with Steve Sosna and Derek Beasely of WJZ! If you have never met these 2, you are missing out. I’ve met a lot of meteorologists at these conferences, and Derek and Steve are by far the two most enthusiastic, down to earth, and caring I’ve met. It was so invigorating to have some amazing conversations with them and I’m very grateful for the opportunity. And at lunch we went to what I think is fair to say our new favorite chicken restaurant. Lees Famous Recipe Chicken is unbelievably good. There were so many incredible speakers and I learned a lot! We particularly enjoyed the presentations on hail damage research in relation to insurance, and how cell mergers can both enhance and reduce tornado potential in supercells and squall lines. And then of course it was an honor to sit and listen to the legendary Tim Marshall, who was and is a pioneer in the storm survey world, and is also such a joy to talk to. Tim talked about how there will be changes/updates to the EF Scale used to rate tornadoes due to new science and better understanding of how damage occurs. I want to give a big thanks to Chris White and everyone on the planning committee for having another fantastic conference. We look forward to next year! Senior Forecaster Jack

In late January, Foot's Forecast team members spent a week at the AMS annual meeting, with over SIX THOUSAND other attendees. We also hosted a table at the student conference and career fair giving advice to students who want to enter the field! The team has been to AMS meetings before, but this was the first one for Forecaster Zach and senior forecaster Jack. In November of 2023, the Foot's Forecast team took part in the Mid Atlantic Severe Weather Conference in Richmond VA. We hosted a table during this conference and were able to meet lots of local broadcast, NWS, and private sector meteorologists, emergency managers, and weather enthusiasts.
