Around 8:32PM on Friday, May 27th, 2022, a tornado touched down near the junction of Maryland Route 5 (Leonardtown Road) and Maryland Route 231 (Prince Frederick Road), along the border of Saint Mary’s and Charles County, in Charlotte Hall, Maryland. In this area, a few trees were damaged along Bach Drive and Maryland Route 5 (Leonardtown Road). A couple dozen trees were snapped and uprooted in the area of Mount Wolf Road and White Drive, where a few downed tree branches lead to siding and window damage on a housing structure. Around this time, the tornado peaked in strength, as an EF-1 system, estimated to have maximum wind gusts around 90 MPH. Some tree damage then continued as the tornado trekked northeastward into the area of Chappelear Drive and Mount Wolf Road. In this area, another uprooted tree fell onto house, but lead to no injuries. Sporadic tree damage was also noted along Maryland Route 231 (Prince Frederick Road), between Barney Drive and Colonial Drive. The tornado traveled a total of four and an eighth miles, before lifting off of the ground at 8:41PM, near benedict, Maryland, with a maximum path width of one hundred yards. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
