bitterly cold air moving in, then next chance for snow friday

1/16/2024

Temperatures have fallen into the mid 20s across Southern MD as of early Tuesday evening. With these well below freezing temperatures, icy spots can be expected tonight into early Wednesday morning for any remaining water on surfaces. Actual low temperatures will be in the mid teens. With northwest winds around 15 mph, wind chills will dip down to near 0°.
Daytime high temperatures will be near 30° on Wednesday. While it will be sunny, there will still be a wind chill factor. Intense cold will be with us again for Wednesday night.
Clouds will increase on Thursday ahead of the next storm system that will arrive from the Mid South. Much like this system we just had, there will be a chance for a light snowfall on Friday. Right now the most likely time for snow to begin looks to be in the morning, but that may change. There is also the possibility that rain may mix in.
The story for the weekend will then be another round of frigid temperatures along with strong winds.
