Coastal storm to bring soaking rain saturday

1/5/2024

Precipitation from the approaching coastal storm will arrive Saturday morning around or just after sunrise in Southern MD. This will be light initially and in the form of rain or a wintry mix. For most of Southern MD, I would not expect any mixed precipitation to last long, and no impacts are expected with temperatures expected to be in the mid 30s. Far northern and western Charles may have a shot at a very light dusting of snow.
Rain will become steadier later in the morning into the afternoon. Heavy rainfall rates are expected mid to late afternoon. Rain will pull away by early to mid evening, with rainfall totals around one inch.
Temperatures will continue rising until sunset, with highs in the mid 40s.
Sunday will turn out breezy with some peeks of sunshine and temperatures reaching the upper 40s. We will have a quiet day of weather on Monday before the next storm arrives Tuesday. This storm may bring heavy rain and strong winds to the region.
