cooler temperatures to return for the end of the week

5/1/2024

May has gotten off to a warm start in Southern MD, and the stretch of temperatures reaching the 80s will continue on Thursday. Following morning low temperatures in the lower 60s, we will reach the upper 80s in the afternoon. There will be plenty of sunshine along with a light breeze.
We will settle down from this summerlike warmth to more springlike conditions to end the week. A cold front will drop through from the northeast early Friday, which will allow for a cooler airmass to move in. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s with a mix of sun and clouds. It will also be breezy with east winds at 15-20 mph, with slightly higher winds right along the bay.
Over the weekend, a couple storm systems will start to impact the area, bringing our next chances for rain. Scattered showers will be possible during the day on Saturday. Cooler temperatures will continue settling in with highs in the mid to upper 60s along with breezy conditions remaining. Rain chances will be higher Saturday night into Sunday.
A general unsettled pattern with more rain chances at times looks likely to continue through early next week. It is not looking like a washout, however. High temperatures will be back well into the 70s.
