dry and particularly hot stretch ahead

6/17/2024

Temperatures this Monday reached close to 90° across Southern MD. With a southerly wind flow in place combined with high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere, the next several days will feature continued heat and humidity.
For Tuesday, temperatures will start off in the lower 70s, and highs will be near 90° again. Juneteenth may be a couple degrees cooler, but we will be right around 90° on Thursday. The heat will build further on Friday, with highs in the mid 90s. It is looking like this intense heat will continue into the weekend, with temperatures reaching the mid 90s again on Saturday.
There are no significant chances for rain for the remainder of this week. A slight drought has started to develop across the region, and it will most likely worsen over the next several days with the continued dry conditions and scorching heat.
