intense storm to bring rain, strong winds, tidal flooding tuesday

1/7/2024

With Saturday’s storm producing over one inch of rain, Southern MD has had nearly 10 inches of rain over the past 30 days. Fueled by the El Nino episode in place, the parade of rainstorms is not showing any signs of slowing down. Another storm will impact Southern MD on Tuesday. Unlike the past one, however, this one will likely result in strong winds area-wide and tidal flooding for North Beach, Solomons, and St. George Island.
Rain will arrive Tuesday morning. While rain will generally continue throughout the day, there may be some breaks. This storm will pull in a significant surge of moisture and wind from the south. Rainfall amounts are expected to easily reach one inch. Southeast winds will increase during the day, reaching a peak in the evening. Wind gusts may reach or even exceed 50 mph. Moderate tidal flooding is possible Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
