low rain chances & continued tidal flooding

9/23/2024

Temperatures this Monday topped out in the lower 70s. A few showers rolled through earlier, and a few additional showers will be possible later tonight. Tuesday, we will still be locked in the long-duration stretch of onshore winds. Combined with a storm system to our west, it will be another day with considerable cloud coverage along with a few occasional showers. High temperatures will be in the lower 70s.
Low chances for rain will continue Wednesday, although there will be a better chance for some sunshine. Temperatures look to reach the mid 70s. We will be back to 80° on Thursday.
For Friday into Saturday, our weather may be partly influenced by a developing hurricane in the Caribbean. While as of early Monday evening it has not become a tropical storm, most computer models suggest that it will quickly intensify over the next couple days. Major impacts to the Florida panhandle or Big Bend area are possible on Thursday.
Some moisture from this tropical system may head northward into Southern MD near the end of the week, although there is uncertainty as to how far north it will extend.
Meanwhile, tidal flooding from the persistent onshore winds will continue to impact areas along the Chesapeake, Patuxent, and Potomac for much of the remainder of this week.
