Showers will continue in Southern MD for much of the rest of this Saturday as a strong storm system marches through. There may even be a rumble of thunder later in the day. Rain looks to clear out by midnight, with rainfall amounts between one half and one inch from this storm. High temperatures will be in the mid 50s.
With gusty onshore winds from the southeast at 15-30 mph, tidal flooding will impact North Beach, Solomons, and Piney Point/St. George Island at high tide today and especially tonight. Flooding will be considered minor for the Calvert locations, with moderate flooding for the coastal locations in St. Mary's.
Windy conditions will be the main story for Sunday into Monday, with a 24-36 hour period of frequent gusts over 30 mph beginning by late Sunday morning. For Sunday, temperatures will rise from the lower 40s in the morning to around 50° in the afternoon. There will be some sunshine with west winds sustained at 20-25 mph with gusts of 40 mph.
Monday morning, it will feel more like winter, with lows in the 30s and wind chills in the 20s. Afternoon highs will be in the lower 50s with ample sunshine, but it will remain quite windy with wind gusts reaching 40 mph again.
Warmer temperatures will settle back in Tuesday into Wednesday with highs in the 60s along with diminishing winds.
