remaining cold and windy through the end of the week

12/3/2024

It will continue to feel like winter for the rest of this week in Southern MD as Canadian air continues to get pulled in, bringing cold temperatures and strong winds at times. Not only is this a rather cold start to December, but the airmass is also notably dry.
For Wednesday, morning lows will be in the mid 20s. Temperatures will head up to the mid 40s in the afternoon with sunshine. There will be a noticeably southerly wind by the afternoon, which will keep wind chill values in the 30s. Winds will continue increasing during the evening and overnight hours as a strong storm system starts to move in.
There may be a couple rain or snow showers around Thursday morning. Cold temperatures and windy conditions will dominate throughout the day. West winds will be sustained at 20-30 mph with gusts reaching 45 mph. Temperatures will stay in the 30s for much of the day, with highs barely getting to 40°. With the strong winds, wind chills will be in the 20s during the day.
Friday morning will start off with actual temperatures in the 20s and wind chills in the teens. High temperatures will be around 40°. While it will not be as windy as on Thursday, there will still be enough wind to make it feel colder.
Saturday will bring a continuation of this wintertime airmass. We will finally have a good shot at getting back to 50° on Sunday.
