seasonable temperatures for first week of january

1/1/2024

Happy New Year! Weather-wise, in Southern MD area we have started off with near average temperatures. A weak disturbance passing through is allowing for a few sprinkles, and a couple showers will remain possible through the evening.
It will feel like January for much of the rest of this week. High temperatures will generally be in the 40s with overnight lows just below freezing. Some sunshine can be expected most days. It will be windy on Thursday.

I am following the potential for a coastal storm to impact the region next weekend. If this holds, there may be enough cold air for snow in portions of the area. However, as is often the case with these setups, the most likely area for snow would be closer to DC. Higher chances for rain would be more so in our area. I will be keeping a close eye on this potential, as this situation may change.
